Remittances from Italy increased in 2020

Study by Fondazione Leone Moressa

In contrast with what was observed globally during the pandemic, remittances from Italy increased in 2020. This is what emerges from one study by the Fondazione Leone Moressa on the data of the Banca d'Italia.

According to Michele Furlan, president of the Leone Moressa Foundation, "remittances represent the first form of support from migrants for the development of their countries of origin. Even in the year of the pandemic, despite the decline in employment, immigrants continued to support families at home. The flows even increased, in parallel with the reduction in the possibility of movement ”.
