A brief scheme explaining the key points

In order to bring out into open from the invisibility of thousands of people living and/or working in the Italian territory, and consequent improves the poor working and living conditions of migrant workers, which have become even more precarious during the pandemic, on May 2020 Italy’s Government foresees the regularisation of the status of illegal migrants working in some labour sectors (Decree Law No. 34/2020, as converted into law no. 77 of 17 July 2020).
This regularisation scheme has been limited to work contracts signed in the sectors of in the agriculture, fishing, care and domestic work sectors. The regularisation process only concerns irregular migrants who were already on Italian territory.
The examination of the about 220 thousand application received is still ongoing and therefore it is too early to say how many irregular migrants will be regularised under this initiative.
